Aquada Premium Corn Meal (Masara)

Aquada premium corn meal is a coarsely milled product obtained from dried corn (maize) kernels. It is the mid-size fraction of ground corn. It is a common staple food and is ground too coarse, medium, and fine consistencies.

 

Aquada premium Corn Meal is derived from corn grain. Corn meal is a common food ingredient, often used to thicken sauces or soups, and to make corn syrup and other sugars. Cornmeal—of course, made from corn—is a popular gluten-free grain. Because it does not contain gluten, it is a good go-to diet addition for those who follow a gluten-free diet or have celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. It can also be used to make Tuwo Masara. Tuwo masara recipe is a staple food in the North; cornmeal fufu is also a very popular dish in virtually every part of Nigeria. This delicious dish comes in different names the Igbos call it Nni oka (Nri oka); Tuwon Masara in Hausa, Tuwo in English is Cornmeal fufu, Corn swallow, and Amala a general name for a swallow in Yoruba or Tuwo agbado in the Yoruba language. However, Tuwon masara is made from dried corn (Maize).

 

This dried corn is then grounded into a powder to form a very fine consistency; thereafter, it is sieved to obtain fine tuwo flour. Homemade maize flour is very easy to make and store in large quantities at home. Tuwon recipe is usually cooked plain and served with different types of soups like; Egusi, Ogbonor, Miyan Kuka, Miyan taushe, Miyan Kubewa (Okor), Miyan Busheshe, Miyan karkashi, stew, and many more. Always make sure you read the labels of any cornmeal product to ensure it was not made in facilities that also process gluten foods.
